Why a Shih Tzu Is a Good Choice
You can't go wrong by adding a Shih Tzu to your home. Befitting of their noble Chinese ancestry as a highly valued and prized companion, these pups are proud of bearing, have distinctively arrogant carriages, and their tails curve over their back. Not only can these dignified and courageous dogs adapt to any family, but they are also friendly to new people. Shih Tzus are very smart, lovable, playful, and gentle.
Additionally, they enjoy lots of attention, making them the perfect dog to cuddle in your lap. Shih Tzus like to have fun as well, which means they are open to doing tricks and playing fetch. Your pup will entertain the entire family, especially children.
Because Shih Tzus are a part of a toy dog breed, they don't grow to a big size. Ideally, their height at the withers is 9.5" to 10.5" (not less than 8" and no more than 11"). Mature dogs weigh from 9 to 16 pounds. Please reach out to us for additional information about grooming.
Grooming Shih Tzus are non-shedding and require daily brushing to keep their coat long and flowing and prevent matting. Many families prefer to keep their Shih Tzu in what is known as a "puppy clip", where hair is clipped shorter to prevent matting.
